Following on from the first post about the language difficulties (Read Here) this post is about understanding how to market here. The search engines that have any impact in Japan are Google and Yahoo. Where Yahoo is more of a directory style search engine it is very ingrained in the Japanese search sector.
The first issues is that business that don't reside in Japan cannot buy the main business domains .e.g companyname.co.jp. The domain can only be bought on proof that you own a company in the same name. There is a way around that in buying a .jp e.g. companyname.jp
For this business I will buy a suitable name and hopefully your brand name is still available as a .jp. When you take one of our subscriptions we registered the best possible name for you and make sure your details of ownership are recorded so you will own it from day one.
If you cancel your subscription at a later date you will already have the credentials to access it independently to our company and that includes the marketing website that we design for you on it. The only thing you will need to do is fine a hosting company so we can transfer the website over to your own hosting company.
The first year for the domain is not included in the subscription but its discounted to $35 USD. Each year after that its $60 USD to renew.
